BMTC buses
Probably the most useful way of travelling inside the city. With the new BMTC Volvo service, the ride is even more comfortable. The problem I face is to identify the correct bus. The destination sometimes is written in the local language. Also, there may not be any direct bus route to the destination.
I got these answers in the BMTC and BTIS website. You can search for buses which go to your destination. If there is no direct bus, it'll suggest you different routes with interchanging points.
Auto-rickshaw
The easiest and more costly way of transport. You can walk down the road and catch an auto. The problem is that most of them have faulty meters, they ask you to pay more than the meter otherwise they refuse to go. There is a website www.easyauto.in where you can get auto by calling the number 9844112233. I personally haven't availed this service yet, but looks really cool and safe.
Also, I am not sure how many people are aware that we can lodge complaints on auto service online or through calling the helpline number. If you have access to the Internet, you can check the approximate fare in the BTIS website. If you have a mobile phone, you can also do the same by sending SMS (GO starting point TO destination) to 9008890088. Please visit http://www.latlong.in/ for further details.
Taxi services
More expensive option is to call a taxi. There are different fare rates for AC and non-AC taxis. I'm listing a few websites/numbers to avail the service.
Meru cab service 44224422
Easycabs 43434343
Spot city taxi 25510000
More can be found here.
Carpool
There are few carpool services available commuting to offices. Please check CommuteEasy or BTIS website to avail the service.
Direction while driving:
These days, latest mobile phones generally contains GPRS service. However, if you are not lucky enough to have such a handset like me :-), you can use 9008890088 SMS service of http://www.latlong.in/ to get detailed direction. SMS charges are according to your mobile plan.
