Recently, I got really inspired by an advertisement on the television. It is related to blood donation. I am not here to reiterate it's importance. Everyone understands it. You can donate blood in blood donation camps organized by some clubs and associations. However, live blood donation is probably more satisfying. I am yet to get such a noble opportunity (probably, my blood group is so common).
I found few websites which work on this (live blood donation). You can get registered there and become a blood donor. They will inform you whenever blood (of your group) is required.

“Pint” whole blood donors – can donate every 56 days
Double red cell donors – can donate every 112 days
Red cell/plasma donors – can donate every 56 days
Plasma donors – can donate every 28 days (but more frequently when donating at a commercial plasma center)
Platelet donors – can donate every 2-3 days up to a total of 24 times a year
Eligibility of blood donation
The Donor must be minimum 18 years old and should be weighing more than 50 Kgs and should be in good health. Donor should not have symptoms of cold or flu or any other diseases. It is important that the donor inform about his/her medical history and medication to the attending doctor.
